Wide Rib Socks or 1x7 Socks pattern

Wide Rib Socks or 1x7 Socks Pattern-By Lise Glas

I wanted to knit a pair of wide ribbed socks but couldn't find a pattern that I really liked, so I designed my own and this is the result. I'm offering it as a free pattern download as payback for all of the wonderful people that have helped me to get to this point.

The pattern is knitted top-down and is sized for a women's foot, but it could be knitted in the reverse and for a larger sock size with a few adjustments, either in more stitches and/or using larger needles.

Also, I knit them using dpns which can also be changed to your preferred needles.

So, please keep in mind that if you do share this pattern or knit items to sell, send a copy of this link to my blog as this is my copyrighted pattern, and therefore, owned by me. Thanks!

Enjoy!

Trip To The Smoky Mountains

This past September, 2010, I went on a trip to the Smoky Mountains with my beautiful daughter, Amy and embarked on an adventure I'll soon not forget.

We had no special plans in mind other than to stay in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, finally deciding on hiking by day and shopping, eating and relaxing at night time. Little did I know, I would be fighting the worst case of a sinus infection that I ever had in my life, the whole time!

I learned so much from my daughter those days, from pitching a tent, how to stay on trails, to keep an eye out for bears, how to spot poison ivy and to just enjoy the moment! We saw deer, wild turkeys, birds, a most tiny creature called a shrew, and all that praying must have worked, because we never did see a bear!

What a spectacular place those many hundred acres are, a truly amazing natural splendor, called the Smoky Mountains that I totally recommend people make a point of visiting!
